About Becky
Even as a young child, Becky has been making music. Beginning at the young age of four, she has studied piano for over 20 years. She has since forayed into other instruments, including the flute, piccolo, guitar, and Celtic harp, though piano remains her first love. As a classically trained pianist, Becky has performed in many settings, including church services, solo performances and recitals, local contests and district events, and special occasions. Becky is also available for weddings, funerals, and as an accompanist.
Becky received her B.A. in Music Ministry (with a piano emphasis) from Lincoln Christian College and Seminary in Lincoln, IL. Upon graduation, she realized her passion for music led her to teaching, instead of to the ministry. She has been teaching private and group piano lessons for over 8 years. She is a member of the Music Teachers’ National Association and the California Association of Professional Music Teachers, both recognized as highly esteemed establishments in the music world.
Though she accepts students of all ages, children are her “forte.” As a full-time music teacher, she sees children from ages 2-10 on a daily basis. For these children, learning music not only gives a child a sense of responsibility, self-confidence, and ownership, but also helps children learn in other areas of their education. Children who study music have been linked in multiple studies to higher SAT scores and several other aptitude tests.
Becky’s primary goal in teaching is to make learning a completely enjoyable experience, providing a creative outlet through innovative lesson planning and personalized training. She wants to instill a passion for music in each of her students, providing a significant and lasting benefit to learners of all ages. |
